Scot Sternberg is an emerging artist in Salem, Massachusetts. Scot first began his study of glassblowing in 2004 in Maho Bay in St. John’s in the US Virgin Islands with his daughter, Talia. They watched as two artists worked the molten glass and color into an artistic form. They became enchanted and drawn in by the flames and the wonders of this art form. The artists invited them to join them. One lesson turned into another, and another…
Scot has studied under a number of artists including Jeff Mentuck of Marblehead Glassworks, Mark Hursty, Jennifer O’Connor and John Long in southern California, Pete Ridabock of Newburyport, and most recently, Chris Watt of Diablo Glass Studio in Boston.
Scot’s glass art is inspired by nature, form, and colors. Glass is his preferred medium of artistic expression. Scot also enjoys creative expression in many other activities, including pottery, painting, and in his cooking. You will also find influences of it in his glass art. What are Scot's other interests?
Scot enjoys athletic challenges. He is very active in health promotion and in his community.
Scot is currently training for an olympic distance triathlon, the Nation's Triathlon, as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training, which raises funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
